The Wairarapa Chiropractic team

Wai Chiro Team (BEST).jpg

Our story so far

The team is made up of three chiropractors, Dr. Ben Bruce, Dr. David Bushell, and Dr. Jo-anne Twiggins. They are supported by four chiropractic assistants/receptionists.

Ben has returned with his wife Monique from over 10 years away to take over Field Chiropractic from its previous owner, Terry Field. Terry practiced in the Wairarapa for over 30 years, and Ben and the team strive to continue on his great reputation, whilst bringing their own style of chiropractic to provide the best for the Wairarapa community.

David who is originally from Taranaki, has joined the team after running a practice in Australia.

Jo-anne has decided to move her family down here from Auckland for a big lifestyle change, so her kids can have more room to run around and play and her and her husband Kevin can enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.

Monique, Grace and Kristy are the friendly faces you'll see when you first come into the practice. They focus on ensuring patients are well cared for.

We would love to meet you and show you around the newly re-branded and renovated practice. So when you're ready, get in touch and book a time that suits to come in and see how chiropractic can benefit you and your family.

Meet the Chiropractors

Ben Bruce

Dr. Ben Bruce

(B. Chiro) MNZCA - Chiropractor/ Owner

Hi I'm Ben and I grew up here in the Wairarapa and my introduction to chiropractic came through sustaining a back injury whilst participating in Tae kwon Do at age 15. Seeing a chiropractor then helped me out so much and got me back on my feet right away and this had a real impact on me. I decided to pursue a career in this field to help others in the same way it had helped me.

I graduated from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in 2008, and after starting and working out of two practices in Auckland for almost 10 years, the opportunity arose for me to come home with my wife Monique to take over Field Chiropractic Clinic, which had been in operation by Terry Field for almost 40 years. I am really grateful to continue the great service Terry provided to the community while also adding in my own style as well. We have recently rebranded the practice to ‘Wairarapa Chiropractic’.

I make it a priority to attend seminars and conferences to keep up to date with the latest developments in chiropractic research and techniques so that I can continue to provide the best and most effective care possible for our patients. I’m proficient in both Activator (instrument-delivered) and manual (more ‘hands on’) chiropractic techniques and am really open to finding out a) whether chiropractic is a good fit for you and if so b) which techniques you prefer or are best suited to get you the results you are looking for.

I am really loving being home and part of the community again, and am looking forward to raising our family here.

David Bushell

Dr. David Bushell

(B. Chiro) MNZCA - Chiropractor

Hi I’m David and I love being a chiropractor. I grew up in New Plymouth Taranaki where I developed a keen interest in everything outdoors from the Mountain to surfing and everything in between. My chiropractic journey is a colourful one, having first completed an electrical apprenticeship and working in New Plymouth I was looking for a new direction and to challenge myself. It was my brother that introduced me to chiropractic as he had recently graduated as a chiropractor and I was immediately drawn to this profession and how it can help people.

I graduated from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic and from there moved across the ditch to practice chiropractic in Queensland Australia.

I have since moved back to New Zealand and I am thoroughly enjoying the relaxed Wairarapa lifestyle and working in such a close knit, friendly community amidst the stunning backdrop of the Tararua ranges.

I am proficient in a range of chiropractic techniques from a more manual (or hands on) approach through to Activator (adjustments delivered through an instrument). I believe that taking the time to listen to the patient and why they seek care is very important in helping achieve each individual’s health goals.

It’s a great feeling being back home in New Zealand and I look forward to meeting you all soon.

Dr. Jo-anne Twiggins

(B. Chiro) MNZCA - Chiropractor

Since moving to New Zealand from South Africa at the age of 9, I have a really enjoyed growing up as a Kiwi kid on the North Shore of Auckland.

I met my husband, Kevin, 12 years ago while camping at Tawharanui beach, we married in Ohakune on Mt Ruapehu and since then we have had three gorgeous boys, Leo, Alex and Zac.

In 2001, I started studying chiropractic, having grown up going to our local chiropractor each school term for a 'tune up' with my family. I liked the idea that chiropractic looked to the cause of a problem rather than just the symptoms, and through the years at chiropractic college and the last 9 years of practice, I've enjoyed seeing that chiropractic care is even more than this... It's about helping the body to stay fit and healthy and strong. I've enjoyed teaching my boys these health principles as well as passing on this knowledge to others.

When Ben & Monique offered for our family to come and join them and the awesome chiropractic team at Wairarapa Chiropractic, we got excited about the positive lifestyle change for our family, and are very excited to join you all in the Wairarapa!

See you soon.

Hi I’m Monique. For the past 14 years I have been in management and have a passion for leadership, development and customer service.

I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their life stories. Being married to Ben, I have heard him talk about the amazing changes he’s seen in his work, and now being involved in the practice, I get to see and hear about them first hand from our patients.

I am loving getting to know the Wairarapa, my new home.

I look forward to seeing you in the new practice soon.

Grace Southey

Grace Southey

Practice Manager / Chiropractic Assistant

Hi I'm Grace and I grew up here in the Wairarapa.

I was first introduced to chiropractic care in 2007 as a patient. I have been with Wairarapa Chiropractic since 2015 and I love being part of the team.

I especially enjoy meeting new patients and celebrating the success they have after each visit. I am continuing to learn about how the body functions and works to heal itself.

I have a passion for health, fitness, and caring for the body. I’m also a major foodie and love trying out new places to eat. In my spare time you are most likely to find me at Riversdale beach or supporting the East Coast rugby team.

I joined the team at Wairarapa Chiropractic in February 2017, I love coming to work and meeting patients and watching the progress patients make with their journey of chiropractic care.

I live in Masterton with my husband Paul and our 3 boys.  We have a small lifestyle block close to town. Its great watching our boys be boys, playing in mud, chasing sheep and climbing trees.

As a family we love spending time at Castlepoint. I enjoy baking and cake decorating when I can find time!
